We work hard to publish accurate accounts of American history. But history is vast, and mistakes can occasionally happen. When we get a fact wrong, we want to fix it as quickly and transparently as possible.
Reporting an Error
If you spot an inaccuracy in one of our articles, please tell us. You can reach our editorial team directly by visiting our Contact Us page and selecting “Report a Correction” from the dropdown menu. To help us investigate, please include a link to the article and any relevant reference material.
Our Review Process
Once we receive a correction request, our editors immediately review the claim against verified historical records and primary sources. We take these reports seriously. If the information in our published article is proven to be incorrect, we will update the text right away.
Transparency and Updates
We believe in owning our mistakes. When we update an article to fix a factual error, we add a clear “Correction” or “Update” note to the page. This note will explain exactly what was changed and provide the date the correction was made. This ensures our readers always know when and why an article was modified.
